POLKA MADRE!!!

Polka Madre is the best name for a band ever. And for lovers of the accordion and Mexico (like your editora claire here), we couldn't think of a more apt and heavenly moniker (Full name: Polka Madre y la Comezón). Lucky for us, these tecla-loving defeños are touring the US of A, and hit Nueva York this weekend.

OJO: Nacotheque is currently on sabbatical (kinda like Mosaico... seems like it's that time of year), so the Friday night show listed on their MySpace page is not happening, but Polka Madre will be playing two shows on Saturday afternoon from 3-6pm at ABC NO RIO (in the LES... 156 Rivington, btwn. Clinton and Suffolk... along with The Bayonettes, Nuclear Family, and Social Cirkle) and at 10:30pm at the fabulous and absolutely crazy Rubulad party (at 195 Morgan Ave. in Brooklyn)*.

*more details on the Rubulad fete coming soon... they're super-secretive about it, and we used to get their emails, but that was when we were nymosaico.com... alas. But take it from us, these events are, well, poca madre.

The 3rd Ward space is located at 195 Morgan Avenue - just a short walk from the Grand Street or Morgan Avenue stops on the L train.

From the Morgan Avenue L stop simply follow the address numbers to 195.

From the Grand Street L stop walk down Grand Street to Morgan Avenue, turn right on Morgan and follow the address numbers.

3rd Ward space has lots of space and air and plumbing. We recommend you come early and not miss the performers; we’re proud to present them to you. We do not recommend you bring your own alcohol as we’re guests in someone else’s space and they’ll probably remove it from you. They have decent prices anyway. We are extremely thankful to the 3rd Ward for adopting this event.
